December was a time of change for the Uu-a-thluk team. Early in the month, we welcomed back Dani Robertson to the Northern Region Biologist role and said ‘so long’ to Claudia Tersigni just before the holidays.
Robertson returned from a year-and-a-half maternity leave, excited to dig back into the northern Nuu-chah-nulth region fisheries portfolio. Tersigni, who provided coverage for Robertson’s leave, has transitioned to a role with Ha’oom Fisheries Society (HFS).
As a contract biologist with HFS, Tersigni continues to work in the northern Nuu-chah-nulth region in Mowachaht/Muchalaht and Ehattesaht/Chinehkint haa-haa-houlthee (chiefly territories).
“I’m supporting the salmon rebuilding the nations are doing,” said Tersigni, whose work now overlaps with Robertson’s. The two biologists have already spent time microtrolling in Nootka Sound as part of a juvenile salmon monitoring program.
